Intro to TV & Film Combat for Actors
An 8-week introduction to performing hand-to-hand combat for TV & Film.
WHAT IS THE INTRO TO TV & FILM COMBAT FOR ACTORS COURSE?
This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to hand-to-hand combat techniques and the essential acting skills needed to authentically portray combat and violence across TV & film. Over 8 weeks, students will develop a strong foundation in the safety principles and performance techniques of hand-to-hand combat, including punches, kicks, blocks, falls, and grappling. The course concludes with students showcasing their skills by performing choreographed fight scenes on camera. These filmed fights are then fully edited for participants to use as proof of ability.
Students will perform on-camera in every class in order to access their growth and learn from a high-performance training environment.
This class is limited to no more than 12 students and each class is led by multiple Action Hero Academy Instructors.
WHAT SKILLS ARE TAUGHT IN THE COURSE?
HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT
Hand-to-hand (unarmed) combat makes up the majority of on-camera violence and serves as a foundation for all other styles of film fighting. Our hand-to-hand curriculum focuses on giving students the tools necessary to ensure any fight they perform is safe AND looks great on camera.
FALLS, ROLLS & THROWS
Learn to get around on the ground – SAFELY! Upgrade your ability not just to fight, but take the hits that will make your character’s journey that much more dramatic.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONING
Build dynamic strength, flexibility, agility, and mobility that will add real flair to your action performance – and helps build the endurance necessary to perform during multiple takes and long shoots.
These topics, and more, will be taught to you over the course of this 8 week intensive.
PRIOR INTRO COURSE FILMED FIGHTS
Please note that student fights performed with dialogue and/or on location are not included in the course fee.
